Lion House Expedition

By Vasco Galante

Dear friends,
Chitengo is beautiful, very green!

Yesterday I went out with Baldeu and Wilfried for a couple of hours and to my surprise some of the tracks are not wet at all!

We went on track 1 until track 4 and stopped, as the Mussicadzi River prevented us from going any further. We walked a little bit, and with a canoe or a rubber boat it would be possible to get to the Lion House - I have to tell you that the scene there, seeing the flood plain full of water is amazing.

We've seen plenty of impala (lots and lots of calves), oribi, waterbuck, reedbuck, warthog and traces of elephant and hippo everywhere.

After, by car we did tracks 3, 6 and 2 without any effort (everything is dry, meaning that after the floods, as there was no local rain, the water was absorbed).

So today we took a boat and went to Lion House!

Along the way we saw a huge male elephant (big tusks) on track 1 and on our return trip we saw 3 kudus.

You can see the amazing view in these pictures:
