On my trip to Vinho today, finding out about their soon-to-come-vacations, I proposed a summer holiday programme — a joint venture between us and the school. For the next 2 months, we’ll be running seminars 3 times a week with them – 1 on human rights, 1 on environment and 1 on health. They were already planning to plant trees (according to the Ministry of Education each child should plant a tree) and teaching children to plant machambas. I offered to provide the seeds and will select these with Bart and Rich. I’ve asked Monica to run this part. We are planning to plant the trees within the clinic perimeter. We will also 1) collect rubbish with the children (health programme); 2) work on traditional dancing and human rights.
