Another interesting plant of "our" mountain. The tiny plant in the attached pictures is actually an orchid with a name larger than the plant: Angraecum humile. At the mention of orchids, most people may have visions of extravagantly large and colorful flowers, adorning grandma's ample bosom at a recent wedding party or of wild and exotic tales of collectors, risking their lives in the impenetrable jungles of the Amazon. In fact many members of this enormous family are actually very modest, both in size and attitude. Nevertheless, this little thing is very special. Normally found only in the forests of Kenya and Tanzania, this record is not only new for the mountain but also a first for all of Mozambique.
